There's obviously a passion for sustainable, well-made, local and responsible products, but the strongest connection lies elsewhere... in their shared love of adventure.

When one of them has been wearing out her soles since the 1940s on the world's trails in the great outdoors... For the last 16 years, the second has been multiplying human encounters with those who create with their hands the epic of the spirit and the eyes. A window permanently open to a breath of creative air.

The iconic Pataugas, which gave its name to the eponymous brand, was created by René Elissabide.

Originally from the Basque Country, it is said that he came up with the idea for this model when he saw children tying pieces of tyre to their feet. True or not, this genius of an inventor certainly had a nose for it, since 70 years later his invention gave rise to an iconic brand of outdoor footwear.

From asphalt surveyors to seasoned hikers, Pataugas has found a place of choice in changing rooms the world over.

We've added a few touches, sprinkling in a few outdoor codes that we really love, and that historically fit in perfectly with the brand".
