OLOW x SCHIAVO /// Youth Never Ends
Sometimes, certain collaborations work so well that the endless explanations on why and how become unnecessary
In short, winter began with a lot of wind, rain, and other seasonal specialities … And so we said why not launch a slightly different product in a limited edition series like a cool little jacket with some writing in the back …
We knew who our man was … Our friend, Jeremy Schiavo from Bordeaux with whom we had already worked with. We discussed the project “Youth Never Ends” and took to the idea straight away …
Interview with the guy at the top
Hi Jeremy, how’s it going so far this year?
Hi OLOW!
It’s going well thank you, it’s gonna be a good year ahead! ; )
We’ll start with a corny little question : How did you fall into graphic design and illustration?
So to make it simple … As far as I can remember I have always drawn and have always had a pen in my hand. But I really came to realise that it meant a lot to me in primary school. With my mate Allan we drew on the board with chalk during lessons… hahahah, but he chose the path of music (Group ALL GUNS AND check it out –http://soundcloud.com/andallguns ) . After that I did not stop and so naturally I have come to do this … I couldn’t see myself doing anything else.
Your pen drawings are really impressive. Can you explain why especially with this tool?
I tested several different supports before getting to do what I do today, I started with illustrations on the computer, I also painted canvases … But it is true that the finish with pen is different and much more accurate (I am a manic) I love the feeling of gliding on the sheet but I am also open to other techniques such as fine black tip.
What is your favourite pen?
I do not have one especially, maybe pencil and paper … without this there would not be any Bic drawings etc.
Why do you do favour your drawings / illustrations in black and white?
Indeed yes, I love black and white. I think it adds value too the drawing, we do not ask the question of whether we like the colours or not, people can pay closer attention to the drawing itself. It is more universal.
Speaking of black and white, congratulations for your participation and victory in the Black Bones Club Contest! Tell us all about it…
That was a real surprise. To be honest I didn’t have a great deal of inspiration for the first drawing and I hesitated when doing it (the stress of the first competition). However once the drawing was done, I was happy.
To be selected out of 50 was a pleasant surprise, I could not believe it. So, that made me stressed out as to be selected meant that I would have to see it through to the end . To be part of the 10 finalists, I had to be in the top 10 with the most LIKEs and shares on Facebook.
Suddenly, everyone around me was behind me, including OLOW;) so thanks everyone!!
To see my drawing in the final 10 lifted the pressure … the cards were dealt. However the wait was long. Suddenly the same thing that had made me stressed was now telling me that the moment was approaching and if I had to go and errrrrrrr and it was crap etc … hahahah.
The day of the results, I was alone in front of my computer on the Be Street page and I saw my drawing amongst the three winners, I yelled out a big FUCKING HELL … I’ll be off to the capital this weekend then
I was now aware of the task ahead and started to think about the live final.
On the day, the height of stress and fatigue from the journey. Good atmosphere, good music and here we go for 12 hours, 1 against 1 to try to make something cool!
There were maybe about 100 people behind me but I was on my own at that moment, as if in a daze.
At the moment of the results I was still into my drawing and when I heard my name I did not immediately realize what it meant …
And now I think back to when I said to my girlfriend “what do you think if I try the contest Be Street Black Bones Club this year ….” : )
You also love playing with typos, you’ve already created several for us, including the one for the Jacket that we have launched today. How does this creative process happen in general?
Yep I love typos. …My passion for graffiti has helped me a lot … This is a process of creation and it’s simple I operate on instinct, I improvise. For YOUTH NEVER ENDS it was easier, I already had a basic typo that you liked, I had to rework it but only to ultimately create something more personalized.

There is a very natural and floral appearance in most of your works, explain to us where this plant fetish comes from.
AlSo I would not call it a fetish but I do absolutely love curves (feminine amongst others… ; ) )
What are your plans for this new year?
Will you continue in the same direction, enjoying it as much as usual?
The other t-shirt collaboration projects I have going on have made me want to have my own t shirt collection.
I also have some exhibitions scheduled in Bordeaux but I would like to travel a little more and why not to the capital.
We always make a ton of resolutions that we never stick to … What’s yours?
Exercise more …
Ok to finish, if I turn up at your house in Bordeaux tomorrow night, what bottle of wine would you crack open?
So if I really wanted to pull out all the stops I would open a bottle of white wine, Château Queyssard, a nice wine to drink for an aperitif but moreover because I made the label, hahaha ; ).
Thank you Jeremy!
Thank you OLOW
